Artis Earthlings Festival: Papermaking with Fruit Pulp

For this festival, our school has developed an artisan papermaking workshop using recycled fruit fibers sourced from the Baking Lab café. This hands-on activity highlights the deep connection between craftsmanship, science, and circularity. Our workshop playfully demonstrates the overlooked potential of reusing food waste in creative ways, as well as the importance of water when working with organic materials.

Earthlings Festival at ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo invites visitors to rediscover their connection with the natural world and explore the concept of “Planetary Health.” The event highlights the deep interdependence between humans, animals, plants, soil, water, and climate, demonstrating that we are all integral parts of a single living system.
